Kitchen Essentials

The following is a gift guide or a “get” guide of a few of my favorite items in the kitchen.  These are also the items that are tried and true customer favorites from my years owning COOK, the sweet little kitchen boutique that I closed almost exactly a year ago to make room for our new babe.

Air Popper $23: we loooove making homemade popcorn plus it eliminates all the nasties that line the bags of microwaveable popcorn. Buy organic kernals and drizzle the popped corn in lemon olive oil with sea salt and cracked pepper or warm some pressed garlic in olive oil on the stove top (if you want a kick add cayenne pepper) plus sea salt.

silicone-garlic-peeler.jpgGarlic Peeler  $5: whoever invented this is genius and it will be cherished in any garlic loving home. These truly work and are probably the one kitchen gadget that everyone in my extended family has.

Garlic Rocker $15: and while we are talking garlic, might as well throw this rocker in.  This is, in my opinion, the best product Joseph Joseph has ever made.  I don’t always feel like cleaning my garlic press and I don’t always need super small pressed garlic.  This is great for quick no-fuss garlic that’s a little bigger than pressed garlic but without the work of chopping.

RSVP Stainless Sink Strainers $15 (for 2): Seriously.  My mom used to put fingernail clippers in our Christmas stockings when we were kids, not cool.  But we’re adults now and it’s the little things that make everyday life easier, this is one of them.  A shiny new strainer that is perfectly easy to clean.

NOW Designs Ripple Kitchen Towel $10: 100% cotton, super soft, absorbent dishtowel that holds up.  I own several of these and sold so many to customers who fell in love with them.  If you are local Discover Earth is now carrying these gems.

bambu‘Give it a Rest’ Bamboo Spoon by Bambu $5: This is the last wooden spoon I ever need to buy for life. Period. Organic bamboo from a family who moved to China from Oregon to pursue their dream of sustainable kitchenware. This spoon is the perfect weight, perfect sized handle, aaaand it has a little groove on the bottom that it sits on so food from the spoon doesn’t get all over your stove, counter top, etc.
